Affordable and fast virtualization app.
Affordable and fast virtualization app.
Running Ubuntu 16.04 LTS on the free version with Oracle 12c server installed. When a JDBC connection is made from the host to the guest, the VM process pegs all cores ending in a kernel panic.
Great VM apps! I hope in the future!!
This is probably the best app for using the hypervisor.framework. I’m looking forward for this app to being developed. Request : please improve icons for Retina Display. The (i) icon and icons in the “Create New VM” window.
I am Japanese and use JIS keyboard. This version can use all keys in JIS keyboard. But displayed character is not match character on the key top. In particular, I pushed “¥” key, but monitor displayed “」”. Please fix it, thank you.
This is a really lightweight virtualization software with poor features. It is far away from any other commercial or free virtualization software.
Simple, clean & efficient. Free VMs are good. Wish there was a trialware for the premium features. Headless mode needs work. Some of the listed free VMs don’t boot in headless mode. Nice work overall!
It’s not usable at all. I was trying Ubuntu net install. The network doesn’t work in the vm so that the net install is not possible.
I have a Mac Pro (Mid 2010), and Veertu will not run, giving the error that “This app requires a Mac from mid 2010 or newer.” So either a bug with the hardware check, or a bug in the documentation. Either way, I’m glad I tested the free version on my “supported” hardware before buying it based on the listed requirements!
Fantistic for quick “get something done in a VM” workflows. Love the fast boot, clean UI, and the OS catalog (ala Genymotion). I’ll keep my Fusion install around a while longer to handle edge cases where I need fancier stuff like access to USB, Bluetooth, etc., but it won’t be the first tool I reach for anymore.
Wanted to be amazed, or at least mildy satisfied with this application. Unfortunately, I downloaded two of their images/VMs, and had no mouse functionality. And, when I tried to edit the VM’s configuration to make some notes in the description field, the application discarded my edits.
A very disappointing experience, and ultimately a needless waste of time. Unless you have only very casual needs, I believe this product will disappoint you, too. My primary use case is to spawn Linux servers and test code on them. Here is a list of problems I encountered with the free version: * limited set of Linux distros (e.g., no Fedora) * no easy way to connect to VM from Mac host (e.g., ssh, web, etc) * limited networking options (e.g., no bridging) * no snapshots * no idea which features are available in free vs. premium versions This last one is by far my biggest complaint. Veertu seems to purposefully avoid telling you ahead of time which features are only unlocked after paying the $40 in-app purchase. They have a section on their web site called "Pricing & Version Information" that contains absolutely zero information about versions or pricing. I have no problem with their freemium model; this lack of transparency, however, is annoying and deceptive. If I had a way of knowing about all the limitations, I would never have downloaded this app and would have saved myself a lot of time. As if the above werent bad enough, I experimented with various preferences settings only to be told -- over and over again -- that "This feature requires in-app purchase". Okay. Which feature? The up-sell prompt doesn’t say. I have no idea, since I dont recall which preference boxes I checked. Then, even after unchecking all the checkboxes, the same inscrutable message appears, and I am unable to start the VM no matter what I do. I assume this is a bug of some kind, but since it renders the software completely unusable, I deleted the app on the spot. I like that there are no kernel extensions needed, but ultimately this app is too limited and frustrating, which is unfortunate. I hope the developers address the above-mentioned shortcomings in due course.
This app is awesome! The lighter, less resource intensive version of VMWare, but with native virtualization technology, which makes the sound latency is a lot better for anyone who wants a very responsive sound buffer. I posted a review before explaining that the windows modifier key didnt work. This has been fixed and veertu works like a charm. Keep up the good work folks, and this app is very much appreciated and worth the money for the premium version.
I’ve tried every Linux distro under the sun, and none of them seem to work. Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Debian, and various other OSes just boot into a weird graphical error. 2014 MacBook Air, running El Capitan. FreeBSD appeared to work, but I don’t like FreeBSD so that doesn’t help me out very much. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong or if the program is just inherently non-functional. On top of that, the User Interface is a bit too simple in my opinion, and the control you have over your VM is limited, to say the least. I would highly recommend VirtualBox as opposed to this. It’s easier, free, and infinitely more versatile. I would love to support this app if it focused less on being pretty and more on being functional.
I’d really love to give this app a whirl, but even with this update, it refuses to run, claiming it requires a mid-2010 Mac or newer. News flash… this IS a mid-2010 iMac I’m trying to run it on. Come on people, get it together! This bug should have been fixed with this update!
I used to be a big user and fan of Virtual Box and VMWare Fusion, but Veertu blows them out of the water in terms of performance and battery life by taking advantage of the native and built-in Hypervisor.framwork. I highly recommend any developer and power user that must use different OSs on Mac OS X to invest and purchase Veertu as their primary virtual machine app for running Windows and Linux virtual machines, which will not drain your battery and it will be orders of magnitude faster. Veertu is getting better on every release and the developers are very responsive to feedback via email and their website forum. You will not be disappointed!
Veertu is a great alternative to VMware Fusion and products like it. It’s not quite as feature rich today but I’m sure, with time, that will change.
Excellent quick virtualization product and I like the idea of running a sandboxed VM when you don’t want to have a heavy installation with kernel extensions, etc… There’s a pleace for VMWare / Parallels / ESXi and even a time/place for virtual box, but I’d recommend people start here and only mess with the others once they have a need for something this app can’t provide.
So far there is no GPU acceleration in Linux systems, and not in Windows systems as far as I can tell from the questions in their Twitter account.
WOW! What a start!! But it offers just Linux versions for free. It wants extra money for the Windows family. And not yet is OS X offered. The price for "Windows bt not OS X” seems high, but compettors are asking twice for ‘standard’ versions. The track record for Mac App Store offers, IME, is not good; the support trails off.
